The Cyber Essentials scheme, backed by the National Cyber Security Centre, sets out key controls that organisations should have in place to protect against the most common cyber threats. Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus demonstrates a higher level of assurance, as it requires independent technical verification of those controls.

What is Cyber Essentials Plus?

Unlike the standard Cyber Essentials certification, which is based on a self-assessment, Cyber Essentials Plus involves a hands-on technical audit carried out by an accredited certification body.

During the audit, a representative sample of our systems and devices was rigorously tested to ensure our security measures are effective in real-world conditions.

This included:

  • Internal and external vulnerability scanning

  • Device and system configuration testing

  • User access control verification

  • Malware protection and patch management checks

  • Phishing and email security testing

This process ensures that cyber security controls are not only in place, but are actively protecting the organisation.

Why Cyber Essentials Plus matters

Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus provides our clients with confidence that their data is handled securely and in line with recognised UK standards.

For organisations working with the public sector, this certification is increasingly essential. The UK Government requires suppliers bidding for certain contracts — particularly those involving sensitive or personal data — to hold Cyber Essentials certification (or an equivalent standard).

As a result, Cyber Essentials Plus is not only a mark of best practice, but also a key requirement for suppliers to NHS organisations, local authorities, and central government departments.

Strengthening trust and security

For Give Me Your Word, achieving Cyber Essentials Plus is part of our wider commitment to delivering secure, reliable language services across healthcare, legal, and public sector environments.

We recognise the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and will continue to invest in robust cyber security practices as threats evolve.
